Storytime Books for Last Minute Reading Tickets...

This is the final week of Summer Reading!  Be sure to get your tickets in A.S.A.P.!  The last day to turn in tickets and redeem prizes is Saturday, August 21st. The library will be open until 1pm.

We explored an creature one might find while digging a moat for the sand castle, sea turtle eggs!  The book Tracks in the Sand by Lorren Leedy provides an excellent description of the process.  Here are our sea turtles!

SS Gigantic, RMS Titanic, and a Whale of Tale!

During my library career, I've discovered kids are fascinated with the intriguing story of the RMS Titanic.  The book S.S. Gigantic Across the Atlantic by Peter Selgin, is a perfect companion to the topic.  The lighthearted story incorporates elements of the Titanic's story, believed to be unsinkable, icebergs, even the fateful date of April 15th.  Our library has a vast collection of children's materials about the Titanic, both fictional and factual.  

Sprinkler Day Fun!

Friday, July 16th was our first ever Sprinkler Day!  Keeping with the theme of Make a Splash, it was only appropriate to get out the slip and slides for an afternoon of fun!  Approximately 55 kids sported their suits and braved the heat.  The day was greeted with such enthusiasm, Sprinkler Day may return next summer!  Yes, even I slid down the slip and slide...
